Last month the Keystone pipeline cracked in South Dakota and dumped hundreds of thousands of gallons of the dirtiest tar sands oil onto a previously pristine prairie. In this episode of Flashpoints we discuss how this burst came about when there were supposed to be foolproof ...more

Yesterday, the Keystone pipeline cracked and dumped 210,000 gallons of oil onto the South Dakota prairie.
Here’s the reason the pipeline burst: the PIG didn’t squeal. The PIG, the Pipeline Inspection Gauge, is sent through the Keystone to check for evidence of any leak, failure, or corrosion that will cause it to burst. But the PIG didn’t squeal a warning. Why not?
Because, as disclosed in my investigation for Britain’s investigative TV series Dispatches in 2010, the PIG has been silenced, its software jacked and hacked by a company that provides PIGS. The software is deliberately …more
This week, Nebraska will decide on whether to approve an extension of the Keystone pipeline which will carry the oil down to Texas.
Oil to Texas?!
Texas is drowning in oil. So why a dangerous pipeline to bring oil from Canada to Texas? The answer: Koch.
Koch Industries owns an oil refinery in Corpus Christi, Texas, which cannot use Texas oil because it’s too “light”—that is, doesn’t have enough sulphur in it, it’s too thin (and too clean). The Koch refinery needs “heavy” oil, like the nasty gunk from Canada’s tar sands — the stuff carried by the Keystone Pipeline. So, the Koch’s have been captive customers of …more
After reading my report on the Kobach/Koch/Trump operation, which has removed tens of thousands of minority voters from the rolls in the swing states that surprisingly shifted to Trump, former federal judge (and now Congressman) Alcee Hastings told me Crosscheck is a criminal violation of federal law. Hastings has called for criminal indictments and written an official Congressional member letter to ask for investigation.hastings-crosscheck-letter-to-ag-lynch
Hastings’ demand for justice is backed by a petition to expose and end Crosscheck’s racist attacks on voting rights. So far it’s been signed by 50,000 people, including 29,507 members of 18 Million Rising, the Asian-American rights group. The group is joined by co-signers Rep. Keith Ellison, Bill Gallegos of Climate Justice, Martin Luther King III and others.
On Tuesday, December 13 I will join the leaders of 18 Million rising in Washington, D.C. to present the petition to Attorney General Loretta Lynch.
Stopping Crosscheck is the Standing Rock of racist vote suppression. If we don’t open the investigations now, by January 21, Kris Kobach will be Homeland Security chief and Jeff Sessions Attorney General.
Yesterday TransCanada called for the State Department to pause its review of the Keystone XL Pipeline until after the 2016 election. Of course, with every Democratic candidate against the filthy crude tube, and every Republican for it, the delay is a gamble on the race.
But who’s behind the pipe — that is, who benefits? And why in the world are we sending oil all the way down from Canada…Texas? Texas, I hear, already has a little oil.
The answer is a four letter word: Koch. Read the story we broke in Vice Magazine, “I want my fair share – and that’s ALL OF IT.”
