New laws alone won’t save voting rights
Analysis of Biden's Georgia voting rights speech

Our action partner, Black Voters Matter, boycotted Biden’s speech in Georgia on the voting rights bills, refusing to act as a photo op prop. Understand the frustration: we’ve been screaming about Georgia as Jim Crow central for 8 years.

Laws alone won’t help: we need the Justice Department to stomp on the new “voter fraud vigilante” challenge system we uncovered. We need enforcement of the laws we have, Joe — and we need you to bust the filibuster.

And CNN and MSNBC should stop referring to the Georgia Secretary of State as a “hero” just because he wouldn’t go to jail for Trump. Brad Raffensperger just attacked the John Lewis Voting Rights Act as a “federal elections takeover” (the dog whistle long used by segregationists), claiming it would “undermine the integrity of our elections.” He means, undermine the whiteness of Georgia elections.
