Jake Tapper — A Journalist? (That’s News to Me!)

Jake Tapper is a gossipmonger and a putz, not a journalist.

In 2001, Tapper was assigned by Salon to work with me to develop a story I’d just broken in The Guardian and on BBC television: that George W. Bush had won Florida and the presidency because his brother, Jeb Bush, had removed tens of thousands of Black men from the voter rolls on the grounds that they were felons ineligible to vote. Not a single one was an illegal voter. Others on my Salon team put in real effort on the ground, and the Palast Investigative team worked day and night on this important but very complex story. Tapper did nothing but bitch to the editors but didn’t do a lick of work. He’s one of those careerist climbers who spends their time sucking up to the boss. The journalism? Forget it.

Do we really need a book in 2025 telling us that Joe Biden’s brain would slip out of gear? This is news? This is journalism?

Greg Palast (Rolling Stone, Guardian, BBC) is the author of The New York Times bestsellers, Armed Madhouse, Billionaires & Ballot Bandits and the book and documentary, The Best Democracy Money Can Buy.

His latest film is All Washed Away: The Untold Story of the Drowning of New Orleans and Texas. Palast is currently working on a new documentary Long Knife, exposing the Koch Brothers' theft of Osage oil, to be released in 2025.
