Why a--holes are always in charge
Tiny Tim Geithner is the Wrong Choice

John Thain is the guy that looks like a Clark Kent doll you saw grinning from page one of your paper Friday morning. Thain was just fired by Bank of America because the square-jawed executive demanded a $30 million bonus after losing $5 billion in just three months at the bank's Merrill Lynch unit. In addition, Thain spent over a million dollars redecorating his office while, at the same time, the U.S. Treasury was bailing out his company with billions in aid. Thain's office re-do included the installation of a $35,000 toilet bowl.
Thain was robbed. He shouldn't have been fired; he should have gotten a $60 million bonus -- and Obama should immediately hire him as Secretary of the Treasury in place of that tax-dodging lightweight that's been nominated, Timothy Geithner.
Here's the facts, ma'am. ...
For the remainder of the story on Thain's toilet and the economic crisis, go to www.SuicideGirls.com. Palast's investigative reports for BBC TV, Rolling Stone and others can be seen at www.GregPalast.com

Let it be said now--and go into history books for all time to come--what monumental, selfish scum John Thain is and was, to his company and to the entire taxpaying United States citizenry.
Great essay. Not sure, though, why you've sent us to read an article about degenerates at a website run by and for degenerates. Wonders never cease.
Yeah, you really can't get any worse than Timothy Geithner, that's for sure.
Many people are complaining about this "commode" purchase choosing to call it a toilet. Not that it really matters but I have come to understand that the commode referred to is a small chest of furniture on short legs (something to that effect), not a toilet or other plumbing fixture.
Moreover, I read (or heard) that Thain started out as a financial white knight but over time he changed. Perhaps he saw greed rewarded and accepted as a way of life among his colleagues and friends. If this account is true then there lies the real investigation and story.
Another example of the fox in the henhouse" in spades.
This will be another wisdom gained from this guy.
Maybe a hairwash in his nice shiny new toilet would have been more appropriate for this character
I just don't have enough imagination to spend this amount of money on the toilet. I can't imagine what a bowl should be...
Nice read, here ,keep up
Interesting case. I had seen the report on BBC!
>>Maybe a hairwash in his nice shiny new toilet would have been more appropriate for this character<<
Well said bill
Well said, Bill.
Well said.
can't believe this man was given the job!
Oh wow, talk about an ego. I can't believe that someone would have the audacity to ask for a huge bonus like that after losing so much money for their company... granted the losses weren't his fault entirely but still. As for the $35k toilet when they were getting bailout money, that's just insane.
It is funny. This is the very reason U.S. economy is struggling.
He atleast can be better then Timothy Geithner.
Hmm just what the doctor ordered !
pure shea butter
Timothy Geithner, but i must say luck counts and these fools get the responsibility.
Definitely a fool!
Not really surprised. Many big shots like him who are responsible for companies failing and people losing jobs get the big pay outs.

great read, thanks for posting..

I think Geithner will prove to be a bad choice, but I guess only time will tell. The administration certainly needs someone in charge who will clean up the current mess effectively, and get the economy back on its feet. Toronto Real Estate Agent
Nice news but it out of date now, can you upgrade it?

just don't get how executives like this are able to have the chutpa to ask for bonuses. This should be outlawed as it completely is senseless. The decent thing would be to take a pay cut.
This man has a lot of guts. If he were in the Philippines, many workers would have rallied just to get him fired or force him to resign. Doesn't he know how many people around the world are jobless and have no money?
Dat is right!
No one can really get any worse than Timothy Geithner, that's for sure.
Nice post by the way
"No one can really get any worse than Timothy Geithner, that's for sure."
C'momm, not that bad. LOL
No one can really get any worse than Timothy Geithner, that's for sure.
I second that for sure.
I can't believe he still demanded a 30 million dollar bonus after the company had lost 5 billion dollars. Can't believe how people take advantage of the situation.
We have in Germany the same problem with the manager. The replacement should be controlled.
Guys like him is always the reason why gigantic and successful companies is going down.
No one can really get any worse than Timothy Geithner for the third time, yah know!
Thank you for that informative post. I really love to read articles that have good information and
ideas to share to each reader. I hope to read more from you guys and continue that good work that
is really inspiring to us.
He demands a huge bonus due to the fact that people will still pay it! I am amazed at how legal theft is supported in this country. God help us
