An Army of Rove-Bots
Captain Iglesias, Obstruction of Justice,

and the Theft of 2008

"The wheels have come off, the engine is on fire and no one is driving," Captain David Iglesias told me yesterday. I'd asked the Naval Reserve officer, heading off to duty in Norfolk, why he didn't want his old job back, United States Attorney for New Mexico.

The busted, burning, ghost-mobile he described is the Department of Justice, driven by Alberto Gonzales. Or is Karl Rove at the wheel? Or no one? Whomever, he didn't want to jump back into Bush's Justice Jalopy.

Today, Iglesias is in Washington to pull the junker off the road, meeting with the Office of Special Counsel where Obstruction of Justice may be swirling around in the old oil pan laying on the garage floor.

The ex-prosecutor and I, long, long ago, had both worked for the Attorney General of New Mexico, a state where the snakes have less venom than the politicians.

First, there's Senator Pete Domenici, whose hiss is as smooth as his bite is deadly. (Show me more...)

On a single day, December 7, Attorney General Alberto Gonzales demanded the resignations of 8 United States Attorneys. What was really the purpose of the firings - and who was behind it? Investigative journalist Greg Palast reports.

tomfewgood04.JPGAMY GOODMAN: Perhaps the most well known of these US attorneys is ousted New Mexico prosecutor David Iglesias. His case has been at the center of the political firestorm. Investigative journalist Greg Palast has been closely following this story. He files this report.
TOM CRUISE: Your honor, I’d like to ask for a recess. I’d like an answer to the question, Judge.

J.A. PRESTON: The court will wait for an answer.

"I have Karl Rove's emails"

Read the Interview with Palast from the Dollars & Sense magazine spring issue about to hit the streets …Dollars & Sense: In the new edition of your book, ARMED MADHOUSE, you report on the theft of the 2008 election. How do know what they're doing? Any way to stop them?

Palast: I know because I have Karl Rove's emails. No kidding. He and his team aren't the sharpest knives in the drawer. They sent copies of their plans to GeorgeWBush.ORG instead of GeorgeWBush.COM addresses -- and, heh heh, they ended up in my in-box. Who says this job ain't fun?

RFK: Rove And Rove's Brain, 'Should Be In Jail,' Not In Office

NEW YORK -- Monday, May 7, 2007RFK Jr and Greg Palast discuss Rove and the Missing e-mails -Photo by CS Muncy
Voting rights attorney Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has called for prison time for the new US Attorney for Arkansas, Timothy Griffin and investigation of Griffin's former boss, Karl Rove, chief political advisor to President Bush.

"Timothy Griffin," said Kennedy,"who is the new US attorney in Arkansas, was actually the mastermind behind the voter fraud efforts by the Bush Administration to disenfranchise over a million voters through 'caging' techniques - which are illegal."

[Hear Kennedy on Griffin, Rove and 'caging lists' below or here]

Kennedy based his demand on the revelations by BBC reporter Greg Palast in the new (Show me more...)

The Secret History of the
American Empire- Excerpt

The Secret History of the American EmpireJohn Perkins, author of "Confessions of an Economic Hitman" has followed up his NY Times best-seller with "The Secret History of the American Empire."

Here's an excerpt- "Hired Guns in Guatemala"

The elevator door opened. Three men stood inside. Unlike Pepe and me, they were not wearing business suits. They were dressed casually in slacks and sweaters. One wore a leather jacket. What got my attention, though, were the guns. All three carried AK- 47s.

Hillary's Mother-F'ing Tour Business

by Greg Palast
Palast is the author of Armed Madhouse, released last week in a new, expanded edition, in paperback - the newest addition to the New York Times listc_0684857995.jpg of non-fiction bestsellers.

(This post has been podcasted please look at the bottom of article to download.)

Before his untimely death in a plane crash, Commerce Secretary Ron Brown said, "I'm not Hillary's mother-f****** tour guide!"

That wasn't a nice thing for a member of the President's cabinet to say about the First Lady, now my Senator, Hillary Clinton.

And it's probably not polite for me to bring it up now. But if I don't, surely the Karl Rovarians will - if Senator Mrs. Clinton nails the Presidential nomination. (Show me more...)

New Afterword to Palast’s Armed Madhouse Reviewed by Marta Steele

If I could read every email I receive from activist organizations, I would feel more qualified to write what I write. When I read Greg Palast, it is clear to me that he has done his homework—granted, that’s how he makes his living; to revive my tired metaphor, he turns over rocks and shows us the slimy microstructures playing macroroles in embezzling our human rights in one way or another.
I first read Armed Madhouse when it came out in 2006 and reviewed it in my 8 May 2006 blog. It was a masterpiece of a slapstick expose, that tragicomedy that comprises our reality and so blemishes it.
