Terrorism viewed from the eyes of a 6 year old child
By Leni von Eckardt
1972, the year the Summer Olympics took place in Munich, Germany.
For those too young to remember, this was the venue for one of the most notorious terrorist acts committed on innocent people.
On September 5th of that year a Palestinian terrorist group called 'Black September' murdered 11 athletes of the Israeli Olympic team.
Rarely was the cause of innocent Palestinians served worse. (Show me more...)

During his debate with Salman Rushdie at the recent Edinburgh TV Festival, someone asked George Galloway if television should broadcast an adaptation of Rushdie's novel, "Satanic Verses." According to Rushdie, Galloway replied, "If you don't respect religion, you have to suffer the consequences." (Show me more...)

Mr. Christopher Hitchens says he doesn't remember his words that way. [In my column, "What's Left?," I wrote:
"Some drunk accosted me, saying, "George Bush was right about everything he said about Iraq!" It was Christopher Hitchens."
Also, Mr. Hitchens wishes to make a distinction between "a drunk" and a "drinker." Fair enough. (Show me more...)

My editors at Index on Censorship magazine, London, receive lots of nutty notes from enraged readers, but this was special:
"Greg Palast's hastily-written article entitled, Kissing the Whip. What on earth is Index doing when it allows its space to be wasted, and its reputation for seriousness lowered, by ignorance and pettiness of this sort?" (Show me more...)

Man, it just felt so good watching George Galloway rip Senator Coleman an extra exit hole. In May 2005, you'll remember, while most American politicians were mincing and cowering, the Honorable Member of the British Parliament, George Galloway, told a panel of stunned US congressmen:
"Senator, in everything I said about Iraq, I turned out to be right and you turned out to be wrong and 100,000 people paid with their lives; 1600 of them American soldiers sent to their deaths on a pack of lies; 15,000 of them wounded, many of them disabled forever on a pack of lies." Greg Palast reporting from Southold, New York
In the War on Terror, we are all on the front lines. Now Southold has apparently been targeted by al-Qaeda. I'm not surprised.
Southold, if you look at a map, is situated at the ass end of nowhere. We are known for our Strawberry Festival and fire truck parade. According to the Census, this tiny place is made up almost entirely of inbred farmers, real estate speculators and volunteer firemen. (Show me more...)

The National Public Radio news anchor was so excited I thought she'd piss on herself: the President of the United States had flown his plane down to 1700 feet to get a better look at the flood damage! And there was a photo of our Commander-in-Chief taken looking out the window. He looked very serious and concerned.
That was yesterday. Today he was at a Golf Resort. No kidding. (Show me more...)
